Found Chomsky MP3s

While looking for the MP3 of Chomsky's recent UW talk at Meany Hall on April 20th, 2005 (mentioned during his KUOW interview), found the MP3s below. As for the UW talk, he's given talks in the past with the same title ("Illegal but Legitimate: A Dubious Doctrine for the Times"). It would be nice to hear the latest one with Q&A, as he usually integrates comments on current events... listen to his interview before the event here on KUOW (also posted below).

  • From the University of Michigan Academic Freedom Lecture Fund page:
In October MIT Professor Noam Chomsky delivered at the University of Michigan Law School the 14th Annual University of Michigan Senate’s Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom before an overflow audience, which included many students. His lecture, entitled “Illegal but Legitimate: A Dubious Doctrine for the Times,” and an interview of Professor Chomsky by WUOM radio host Todd Mundt, are being aired repeatedly by University of Michigan Television (Channel 22). In addition, you can download a streaming video recording of the lecture from the site referenced above.

  • The referenced site is the Lectures on Demand page available here, or you can skip to the Real audio page here.
  • Also, Noam Chomsky gave the same talk, lasting 1:17:44, Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Columbia University. Click the links below to view:

Chomsky speaks at Beasley

Noam Chomsky spoke at 3:30PM on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Wallis Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum at Washington State University, in Pullman, WA. Chomsky gave the 2005 Potter Memorial Lecture, his speech was called “Imminent Crises: Responsibilities and Opportunities” and was open to the public, free of charge. The lecture gets its name from Frank Potter, a former WSU philosophy professor. Each year, an internationally-known philosopher is invited to speak at the University under this banner.

Primordial Ooze posted his notes and summerized the lecture on daily KOS.

Chomsky on Anarchism, a book of old anarchist texts by the author, some previously unpublished, is due out in May.
